Optimising the cacao supply chain

In Ivory Coast, Cargill, IFC, TechnoServe (TNS) and SCOPEinsight established a partnership to assess and improve the professionalism of 79 cooperatives with the purpose of optimizing the cocoa supply chain and increasing access to finance. The SCOPE Basic tool was employed to measure the level of maturity of the cooperatives and informed training and capacity building to uplift the level of professionalism. Middelbeek Consult reviewed the SCOPEinsight assessment tool, analyzed the variation in assessments scores of the cooperatives and investigated factors explaining variance. The review informed the further upgrade of the SCOPEinsight tool as well as the design of the follow-up phase of the project.
